Good Food Cheap

April 29, 2008 at 2:58 pm (Good Stuff Cheap) ()

ALDI is some kind of discount grocery store that just opened up by my mom’s house in PA.  Surprisingly they have really cheap items that taste really good.  My faves are their Peppercorn Ranch chips and “Homestyle” Chocolate Chip Cookies.  They also have 1 lb. packs of lunch meat for $3.49.  I found one down the street from my work in Langley Park.  You have to deposit a quarter into the carts in order to use them. You get it back when you put the cart back.  The first time I went there I didn’t know that so I asked this little girl if I could have her cart and she had a perplexed look on her face and gave me the cart.  I felt so bad when I realized I stole her quarter!!  But last night,  a man followed me to my car and watched me load up my groceries.  He kept speaking spanish and I had no idea what he was saying.  I think he wanted the quarter in the cart so I let him put it back.  I think that should rebalance my ALDI karma.

District of Caron

The Wizards game last Thursday was amazing.  It was my second Wizards game ever.  The first one was back when Michael Jordan was on the Wizards, ages ago.  I was so far back that he was 3″ tall.  This time I had floor seats and LeBron James was in front of my face!  His head is smaller in person and he kept chewing on his fingernails like he always does.  Other notables we saw were Eric Snow, Big Ben Wallace, and Colin Powell.  Soulja Boy was there too.  Clinton Portis of the Washington Redskins and Kevin Durant were also in the “Phone Booth“ but I didn’t see them.  I think we’ll make our way back if they make it to round 2, but they have something like a 4% chance of winning 3 in a row.

I’m going to the game tonight!  It starts at 8pm and it’ll be televised on TNT.  Look for me somewhere behind the Cavs’ bench!

Go Wizards!

Financial Organizer

Here’s a great tool for organizing accounts, credit cards, and investments: www.mint.com

It links all your accounts onto one screen and it helps you keep track of budgets and purchases.  It also alerts you to other banks that offer higher interest rates.
