Sex and the City Movie

Saw the movie last night with six other girls and it was fabulous. It had all the elements of the series; it was like watching a seventh season all in one sitting. I want to see it over and over again! The DVD better be out ASAP! I don’t remember the last time I went to see a movie on its opening night. Sequel? If it makes enough $$$ anything is possible!
Summer ‘08 Has Officially Begun
I had an enjoyable long weekend spending time with friends and family. A good start to what I hope will be a relaxing and fun summer! The festivities began with Francis’ birthday mini-party on Thursday. We ate dinner at Lia’s and then just hung out at home. I got him a carrot cake from Cake Love in Silver Spring. It was good but overpriced, especially for a 6″ size. I think I’ll just stick with the cupcakes if I ever go there again.

Friday and Saturday we hung out with friends in Grosvenor and Cleveland Park, respectively. Sunday morning we headed to Pennsylvania for a BBQ with the fam. We went to a place called Laurel Lake in the Pine Grove area. I remember looking at photos of me being there when I was a little kid. It was beautiful out there and the weather was wonderful. There’s also a mountain spring and the water is so clean. My mom regularly comes up there and takes home jugs and jugs of water.

The food was delish! Francis’ mom also had some galbi ribs marinated but we never got to it unfortunately. There was enough food to feed an army. Later that night we met up with my hometown friends. Fun times as always! Just a little tired and bloated from all that meat-eating and drinking. Sunday we ate some more and then headed back home.
Today I got my pool pass! The management office finally got smart and put each person’s photo on it. Harder to reproduce if you know what I mean ^_~. I think tomorrow I’m going to go browse for bicycles. Time to work on my fitness after two years of sitting on my arse day and night. Maybe I should become one of those people who wake up at 5 am to work out. Hmm…we’ll see. ‘Go big or go home’ right? I think I’ve heard that phrase 100 times in the last month or so and now I’m brainwashed.
SEX AND THE CITY opens Friday! Woot!
American Idol 7.0
I really want David Cook to win. I cannot stand Archuletta! He’s a terrific singer and all but everytime he sings I feel like I’m at church. Which isn’t really a bad thing I s’pose, but his whole “golly-gee-aww-shucks-gosh” persona makes me want to just bitch slap him and say, “Archuletta! You ignorant slut!” I’ll probably go to hell for thinking that but this DeeCee-an needs a bit more angst and grit. Plus, his dad gives me the heebie-jeebies.
Chances Are

I saw the movie “Chances Are” this weekend. Released in 1989, it stars Cybill Shepherd, Robert Downey, Jr., Ryan O’Neal, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Happy Gilmore’s nemesis, Christopher McDonald. I loved it! It’s an oldie but a goodie, as my co-worker would say. I also saw “27 Dresses” with Katherine Heigl but it wasn’t as good as this movie. It was so good I watched it twice!
New Car

I got a new car! FINALLY! I got the ‘08 Acura TSX w/ Navi on Saturday from Pohanka and I love it! It’s a big change from my beat up Civic. It’s like going from an Apple IIe (with keys missing) to Windows Vista. All these buttons and gadgets everywhere. I have XM Radio too, which I’m loving. Francis witnessed my anal-ness for the first time this weekend when his shoes made my carpet dirty. I’ve banished him (and anyone else) from riding until my all-season mats get delivered. I can be very OCD, especially with a new car.
The TSX wasn’t really my first choice when I was looking for a car. I always had a thing for the IS300 but it’s a V6 and the older models have those riceboy lights on the back. I had fun when I test drove it though, that’s for sure. I also test drove the Saab 93. It was nice but the dashboard is too “spaceship”-like and the resale value is so much lower than Japanese cars. The fact that GM owns Saab didn’t really help either, and the salesman wasn’t budging on the price.
I liked the TSX too but finding a used one in white/parchment/navi was pretty much impossible. I did find one, but it was overpriced. Everyone I know who has a TSX, including people who were reluctantly selling theirs, absolutely loves the car so I was convinced I should get one. And the timing was good because the new ’09’s are out and the dealership wants to get rid of the ’08’s.
I’m grateful I had Francis to help me because he pretty much did all the dirty work, calling around and negotiating. He also got some interesting information on www.edmunds.com. My cost of living just skyrocketed but it’ll be worth it. This is my graduation present to myself. I wonder what I’ll get if I ever get my Bachelor’s? Crotch Rocket!!
The Frick Collection
I love New York City because no matter how many times I’ve been there, it always feels like the first time. This time, we stayed at the Hotel Pennsylvania. It is apparently “The World’s Most Popular Hotel.” This may be true but I wonder how many go back for a second stay. Let’s just say it was “vintage.” The tchotchke show was whatever; same stuff, different packaging. The hotel was very close to K-Town so we spend most of our time there to meet with friends. Pinkberry was there but we didn’t go =(. We did go to Dunkin’ Donuts twice and went to P.J. Clarke’s for the first time. They definitely have good burgers.
We finally went to a museum in NY, The Frick Collection on 70th and 5th Ave. It’s basically a mansion filled with fantastic pieces of art and sculptures. I couldn’t take photos inside but here are some from the outside:

It was amazing inside. It is HUGE and very old, as in “old money.” Very cool.
Lars and the Real Girl

I saw Lars and the Real Girl the other night and I love it! I’m a huge fan of Ryan Gosling. He was nominated for a Golden Globe and plays Lars, a 27-year old introvert who is delusional and falls in love with, well… you’ll see. Watch it!
New York City

Off to New York tonight for a tchotchke convention until Thursday. It’s the final fantastic voyage for the ole’ Civic. Hopefully we’ll make it up and back without any problems. Come this weekend, if all goes well, I’ll be driving a new whip! Finally!
School is O-V-E-R and I’m taking an indefinite break. School is repressive and it’s making me go mad. Fun times to come, I promise.
