Brother From Another Planet
My favorite XM Radio program is Zoltar Subterranean which aired on weekend afternoons on channel 82 (now 80). But Zoltar hasn’t been on since Sirius and XM integrated their programming. He deejays trance music and it’s so good. I miss it! Luckily I found his playlist and podcast online! I wish I could blast this music in the gym!
Fiesta Monday
First day back at work. Blech.
Hit the gym today….PACKED HOUSE. 35 minutes walk/run, 1 hour step class. I’m soo out of shape.
“Happy new rear!” (says my aerobics instructor).
Weigh-in: 123.00 lbs
Day with the ‘In-Laws’
Yesterday F’s mom, brother, and his brother’s girlfriend came over for the evening. They came and cooked us food, which I found strange. I felt bad they came to my house to cook! Oh well, I suppose my mom would do the same thing. I’d rather go out and eat than make her cook though. But F and I didn’t want to leave the house because the playoff games were on so I guess they did what they had to do. They made us Pad Thai, guacomole, and nachos grande. I didn’t make it out to the Crescent Trail so I’ll have to make up my mile today or tomorrow. I think I’ll just hit the gym tomorrow and get 3 miles in then. I think I’ve lost a pound or two already.
Unfortch both my teams lost last night but I hope my picks are accurate today. I’m rooting for the Dolphins and Eagles!
Day Two
Yesterday I did some shopping down the street at Filene’s and Lohmann’s. It was unusually quiet on the streets. Maybe because it was a workday. Shopping was okay; there were sales on denim and shoes among other things. I was trying to find a new bag to carry my books but couldn’t pick one I liked.
Later in the day I got my first two miles of walking in for the year at the gym upstairs. Today the goal is to walk to the Capital Crescent Trail via Dorset Avenue by my house. Depending on how far it is, I may just walk back once I get there. Next time I’ll try to actually walk on it. I need to get a bike or some roller blades because walking is boring and I hate running. F won’t come with me because he has bad knees. Maybe if I get him a bike he’ll come with me.
I can’t wait for the playoff games today! Go Falcons and Colts!
Day One

Happy New Year! I started off 2009 eating like it was my last day on earth. Puff pastries, cream dips, pizza, and meatballs! Plus cake that I named the “Homer Simpson Donut” that was soooo yummy (see photo above). Sooo delicious, but I have to say good-bye. I can’t be eating like that anymore. No more Popeyes, McDonald’s…. ugh. I can’t completely say goodbye to korean BBQ though. The little piggy in me needs her poke bellies!
For New Year’s Day, F, M, and I went to Regal to catch a double feature. We saw Seven Pounds and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, back to back. Seven Pounds was better than I thought, given the so-so reviews I’ve heard. I teared up and sniffed many times. Will Smith and Rosario Dawson were lovely together. You know someone loves you when they fix your old machinery. Benjamin Button was also good, but I thought it’d be better since it got a lot more positive reviews. Maybe it was because I was into hour number four during the heart of it or maybe it was the length overall, and it reminded me too much of Forrest Gump. I liked the beginning much more than the end. Based on the previews, I want to see Revolutionary Road and Gran Torino next. Soloist also looks promising (with Robert Downey, Jr. and Jamie Foxx), but looks very “August Rush”-y, which is not a bad thing.
I was debating whether to stay home and watch the Rose Bowl or go to the movies. Thank god I didn’t stay home because I would have been salty all night after watching Penn State basically assume the fetal position after the first half (I recorded it and watched it after I got home). I wonder what all the hooplah was about. After all these years Joe Pa should be used to the media being so fascinated with him. He usually handles the attention with poise and grace but I found his manner a bit unusual this year. I think he took even more attention away from his players by being so fussy about it. I think he should have been down at the sidelines and in the locker room for the game. He’s just a figurehead I guess.
Today is my last official vacation day for the holiday. If the two movies I saw taught me anything, it’s that I should quit my job asap and start fresh and not waste a day of my life doing something I don’t love. I’m almost there…but still not brave enough…. Maybe watching Kate and Leo stuggle in their “resign(ation) from life” in Revolutionary Road will put me over the edge… stay tuned.

Merry Christmas Bitches
Merry Christmas! Happy Festivus!
It doesn’t feel like Christmas. Gifts are skimp. The S.O. and I decided not to exchange gifts (again). Instead we are going to save our pennies and take a trip to our favorite city, NYC, in February. Anniversary, Xmas, V-Day, and my B-day all rolled into one. It’s the economy!
But, we both got a great present for Christmas from one of his co-workers! Her family has season tickets to the ‘Skins and she called on Sunday to offer us the tickets to the last home game.
Here are some pics:

This guy was going back and forth with an Eagles fan wearing a Dawkins jersey. There were two shows going on at once. It was comical.

Section 306, Club Level

This was a fun (cold!) game and it went by so fast, even though at one point both teams were going three and out and punting every time. We were sitting right in front of the Eagles endzone in the fourth quarter when the guy (Brown?) caught the ball at the 1 yard line in the last play of the game. It was amazing to see it right it front of my face and we all knew he didn’t break the plane of the endzone. Pretty exciting stuff. Everyone stayed until the end of the game though so it took an hour and a half to get home. I ran over two beer bottles on the way out! But I loved every minute of it! Well, one thing I hated was the fact that grown men turn into barbaric animals and act like complete assholes. Poor little Eagles fans had to hear all the drunken madness afterwards. But one comment from a ’skins fan did make me laugh. He said, “Eagles suck! They can’t even beat the ’skins!”
The year is almost over and thank goodness for that. This wasn’t a good year, except maybe for sports (Super Bowl, Olympics). 2009 will be better. Trust.
Hope you have a great holiday!
Renaissance Festival
France and I, plus his mom and step-dad went to the Maryland Renaissance Festival on Saturday. I wish we could have eaten more, but the entertainment was better than I thought it would be.
